atsec China Obtains China Metrology Accreditation

Beijing, China - atsec China is pleased to announce that it has successfully achieved China Metrology Accreditation (hereinafter CMA). The CMA is issued by the Beijing Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, after the lab is confirmed to be compliant to the “Assessment Criteria of Laboratory Accreditation” required by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA). The scope of this accreditation for atsec China covers the Chinese national standard “GB/T 18336 Information technology—Security techniques - Evaluation criteria for IT security,” which is the Chinese translation of ISO/IEC 15408. In the area of IT security evaluations, atsec China is the first foreign-invested and independent commercial laboratory to have gained the CMA.

Required by the Metrology Law of the People’s Republic of China, the CMA is mandatory for all of the testing laboratories and product quality supervision and inspection agencies whose published reports are aimed to provide society with unbiased data. The assessment for CMA must be conducted by a governmental bureau specialized in measurement at or above the provincial level. It is to ensure that the assessed laboratories or quality inspection agencies are competent to perform testing and to produce reliable data. A laboratory with CMA is allowed to use the CMA logo on its test reports. Reports with the CMA logo can be used for product quality evaluation, inspection results or expert testimony.

“atsec China had already acquired the CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) accreditation in the year 2010 according to CNAS CL01 (equivalent to ISO/IEC 17025: 2005),” said Lily Li, the Quality Manager of atsec China. “With the successful accreditation of CMA, atsec China is better positioned to serve our local customers, as well as global customers.”
