atsec information security Opens China Office
2006-06-16Beijing China June 19, 2006
As another hot summer approaches, information security is more important than ever in China. In response to that challenge, atsec information security is pleased to announce the opening of its office in Beijing, China.

The newly-formed atsec Beijing representative office (atsec China) is the fifth atsec company to open since 2000, joining atsec GmbH (with offices in Munich and Cologne), atsec corporation (located in Austin, TX), atsec AB (located in Stockholm - Sweden), and atsec Ltd. (in the U.K.).
atsec management began to explore the idea of building an atsec company in China in 2003. China’s emerging interest in information technology, including information technology standards, during the past two decades makes it a good fit for atsec’s framework, vision, and guiding principles.
Salvatore La Pietra, atsec President and CEO, has defined ambitious goals for atsec China:
- Achieve an understanding of the China IT security market;
- Participate in the development of emerging IT security standards in China;
- Work with Chinese interests to integrate their standards efforts with non-Chinese sponsored standards and schemes, for instance the Common Criteria (CC) certification schemes under German BSI and U.S. CCEVS;
- Work with other western companies who need to understand the emerging China IT security standards;
- Provide professional security consulting services in China;
- Help Chinese security vendors understand overseas markets, so that they can export their products to the U.S. or Europe.
By establishing a presence and building relationships early, atsec will be well-positioned to play a leadership role as China’s IT security sector standards and practices mature.
The new atsec office is located in the Olympic venues area, close to the Zhong Guan Cun high technology district and leading universities.
