atsec information security’s Apostol Vassilev speaks at National Institute of Education in Oriahovitza, Bulgaria

2008-09-21

Austin, TX – atsec information security consultant Apostol Vassilev recently presented to the International Symposium on Recent Developments in Cryptography and Information Security, delivering a talk titled: “You say to-mah-to, I say to-mae-to: Why isn't there a single solution to Information Security Assurance?”

Information security assurance is a topic that has developed quickly over the last few years. The main driver for its rapid development is the security crisis that has begun to impede the growth of information services on the Web. Further motivation for the interest in this topic stems from the focus on critical infrastructure related to Homeland Security, the increased emphasis on corporate governance, and the increasing awareness of privacy matters as society recognizes the dangers that accompany IT advances. In his talk, Mr. Vassilev introduced the main approaches to Information Security Assurance and presented their strengths and weaknesses.

Mr. Vassilev’s presentation will be posted on the atsec expertise page, which includes links to publications and talks produced by many atsec employees.
