FISMA
What atsec offers
Implementation responsibilities and accreditation standards associated with the recently-enacted Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) are currently being discussed and refined. As an industry leader, atsec is poised to play a role in helping to clarify FISMA accreditation standards and certification rules. We will be well-positioned to offer consulting services to companies needing clarification about FISMA certification rules, and after accreditation/certification procedures have been defined, atsec intends to seek accreditation as a FISMA evaluation lab.
Why our services are important to you The Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Implementation Project was established in January 2003 to produce key security standards and guidelines aimed at protecting the country’s critical information infrastructure. According to the terms of the E-Government Act, each federal agency must develop, document, and implement an agency-wide, risk-based program to provide information security for the information and information systems that support the operations and assets of the agency, including those provided or managed by another agency, contractor, or other source.
A solid framework for FISMA implementation is still emerging. Security IT industry leaders have an opportunity to help shape FISMA accreditation standards and certification rules, and atsec is part of this significant effort.
